Some tableware whispers. These bowls do not.
Each bowl features a full crab illustration painted across the interior in a style that sits somewhere between traditional Japanese ink painting and something your most interesting friend brought back from a market in Kyoto. The blue bowl has a wide-eyed blue swimmer crab rendered in cobalt, navy, and flashes of yellow. The red bowl answers it with a coral and orange mud crab painted in broad, confident brushstrokes against a vivid red ground. Both crabs fill the entire bowl interior, claws reaching toward the rim.
The outside of each bowl carries the colour of the interior illustration. Plain, glossy, and bold. On a table they announce themselves before the food does.
This is the set you buy for the person who already has everything and is bored of tasteful. It is also the set you keep for yourself because every time you eat from it something about the meal feels more alive. It works equally well for ramen, rice, or a bowl of whatever you throw together on a Tuesday night that suddenly feels like more of an occasion than it should.
Each set includes two bowls and two pairs of dark chopsticks, presented in a matte black gift box. Dishwasher and microwave safe.
Designed and made in Japan. 12.7 x 7.5cm per bowl.
