$39.95

Two deep black ceramic bowls with white cherry blossom branches floating across a starlit glaze. Dramatic, refined, and unmistakably Japanese.

Where the Yaezakura set is soft and gentle, Soushunka is its dark mirror. The same cherry blossom motif, rendered completely differently. Here the blossoms are white on black, floating against a deep glaze that shifts between near-black and warm brown depending on the light. Gold branch lines trace their way across the surface, and a fine white speckle gives the whole piece the quality of a night sky.

Soushunka translates roughly to early spring blossom, and there is something exactly right about that name. These bowls capture the feeling of cherry blossoms at dusk, delicate and fleeting against a darkening sky.

They are the more dramatic option in the range and will appeal to a different buyer than the celadon Yaezakura. Someone who leans toward a darker, more considered table aesthetic. Someone who wants their ceramics to make a statement without resorting to noise.

Each set includes two bowls and two pairs of chopsticks, presented in a gift box. Dishwasher and microwave safe.

Designed and made in Japan. 14.9 x 6.9cm per bowl.
